I just want to again say what a wonderful job I think you all did with the monster project! I couldn't believe how much alike some of the replicated pictures were ot the originals. So FANTASTIC work everyone!!
As we all know the math MCAS Exam is quickly approaching and so I thought since our minds will be focused on math we should have a math based assignment. I also wanted to wish you all good luck on the MCAS Math Exam- I know you all will do well.
So, your assignment for this week is to write a math simile--- yes I said a math simile!! And what, you may ask is a math simile? To answer that question let's first review the definition of a simile. According to the Merriam Webster Online Dictionary a simile is "a figure of speech comparing two unlike things that is often introduced by like or as (as in cheeks like roses)". So you will using the word math or another math term, writing a simile about that term and explaining the simile.
For example: Math is like a rock. Sometimes it is really hard. OR Algebra is like a pill. It's hard to swallow OR Math is like a roller coaster. It has it's ups and downs. OR Math is like food. You need it to survive!
So to review, your assignment is to use the word math or other math terms (you can use the same term more than once, but with a different simile) and write a minimum or four similes accompanied with an explanation sentence. As always please post your four similes on your group page and make positive comments to your classmates posts and please remember to check for grammar and spelling mistakes before posting your response!
